PIPA Updates for Inflatable Ball Ponds

October 02, 2026

Inflatable Ball Ponds now fall under the PIPA Scope and therefore if you choose to get your inflatable ball pool PIPA tested it needs to be tested with the relevant components i.e. ball pond balls, matting etc to ensure they are also compliant.

The main points to consider are the below:-

  • If you have a ball pond with bottom sheet flooring as opposed to and inflatable base then the ball pond needs to be on soft matting 20-50mm in thickness
  • The maximum depth of the balls in the ball pool does not exceed 450mm if intended for users under 36 months
  • The maximum depth of the balls in the ball pool does not exceed 600mm if intended for users over 36 months
  • If there is a mixed age use on the inflatable then the lowest value must be applied
  • The ball pond balls must be a minimum of 60mm in diameter, not damaged and UKCA or CE Marked.
