What Bouncy Castles Can or Cant Be Hired Out?

A question we get asked frequently is our our bouncy castles suitable for commercial use – the answer to this is YES absolutely. The reason this is confusing especially for new hirers or people just looking to start out in the bouncy castle hire world is because there are so many bouncy castles to choose from it can be daunting. But anyone who is looking to hire out bouncy castles or inflatables must choose commercial grade bouncy castles that conform to the BSEN Regulations.

As manufacturers we have to ensure that we manufacture all of our products in accordance to the BSEN Regulations which are strict standards to ensure that it is fit for commercial use and as safe as possible for childrens play equipment. Whilst we appreciate the ‘Toy’ Bouncy Castles are a lot more affordable this is due to a number of different factors, which will be detailed further below, they are not fit for commercial use and they wouldn’t be insurable.

So you might now be wondering how you can tell the difference?

Firstly Toy Bouncy Castles are only intended for Domestic use so they are often available to purchase from Stores such as Smyths, Argos, B&Q etc – these are not commercial grade bouncy castles which can be hired out. The quality of material is much thinner than commercial grade bouncy castles this makes them lighter and they are generally also much smaller than commercial bouncy castles. They lack basic safety features that are required for commercial bouncy castles for example their anchor points will not be robust/secure enough and will most likely not have the sufficient quantity required either.

The safety of Children is an absolute necessity and this is why the UK have such strict regulations to adhere to and compliance from the manufacturers and operators of childrens play equipment is critical to diminish risks and accidents from occurring.

Hiring out Toy Bouncy Castles drastically increases the risk of injury to children due to its light weight materials and insufficient anchorage it can easily tip over whilst in use or rip etc. On top of this given that they don’t follow the strict regulations there will be features that can increase injury to the users that you wouldn’t see on a commercial bouncy castle for example high fall off points, entrapment etc which can lead to minor or severe injuries to users.

If an injury is incurred to a user your insurance would not be valid as they don’t cover toy bouncy castles so the legal repercussions could be high for you as an operator too on top of having to potentially pay out a claim which is damaging for your business and reputation too.

Please also bear in mind for insurance purposes you should be conforming to having an up to date safety test on your inflatable which needs to be done every 12 months – no tester would be able to test a toy bouncy castle and this would also mean if you have insurance for your bouncy castle this would be another reason that your insurance would be invalid.

Therefore if you are looking to hire out bouncy castles and inflatables investing in quality, commercial products is a MUST but don’t worry as Premier Inflate have a huge range of bouncy castles and inflatables for sale which are suitable for commercial use. We also have flexible payment options so you can spread the cost such as Klarna and PayPal Credit.
